KADITANE GOMIS
A student in DUT Marketing Techniques in Annecy and a member of the French Freestyle Ski Team, Kadi combines high-level sport and marketing. But, when you step inside his home, you’re surprised to discover an artist’s soul mixed with a little geek side.
On the ground floor of the family house, Kaditane Gomis has a studio all to himself. In fact, a simple room wouldn’t have been enough for our freestyle ski champion to fit all of his universe… and his gear. To get to know him better, we dug through his closets!
PRODIGY 1 FACTION SKIS. THE ESSENTIAL!
A skier without skis is like a tartiflette without reblochon cheese – it makes no sense! Kaditane has been part of the Faction Skis team for 3 winters, and the Prodigy 1 is his favorite model. A responsive and precise park ski, soft at the front and back to have fun in switch, carve, and throw down some nice butters.
A STUDIO TO MAKE MUSIC
Coming from a family of artists, young Kadi fell into music from an early age. With a father who is a ski instructor as well as a djembe teacher, and a mother who is a dance instructor, rhythm is in his blood. After trying the drums, Kadi now produces music from his bedroom computer. Among other things, he produced a track for a video of a collaboration between Footlocker and Salomon. Soon, three of his compositions will accompany videos for the Arc’teryx brand.
OAKLEY PRODUCTS, WANT SOME? HERE YOU GO!
Sunglasses, stacks of shoes still in their boxes, clothes, and accessories – it’s clear why the Oakley Store team in Annecy calls Kadi’s room “The Shop.” You can find almost everything there! A brand ambassador since 2020, Kadi explains: “Since my participation in the 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne, the team sends me products to wear and create content with. I have no restrictions, which allows me to unleash my creativity and showcase original clothes and accessories all year round.”
A BRONZE MEDAL AT THE SFR FREESTYLE TOUR 2017
This beautiful podium memory proudly sits in a corner of his room. Back then, La Clusaz hosted a stage of the SFR Freestyle Tour, and at just 14 years old, Kaditane ranked 3rd in the kids’ category. A lot has changed since then! Most of his trophies are carefully and proudly kept by his parents, but some prizes hold a special place in a corner of his room.
MANGAS AND DRAWINGS
Above Kadi’s desk, drawings of familiar faces are displayed. Nami, Roronoa Zoro, Usopp, Sanji… The entire crew of Luffy, the hero of the manga One Piece, is there! He explains that he sketched all of this during his online classes during the Covid-19 lockdown. “I’m a skier, but I’m also a geek,” he confides. And it’s true, as you scan the shelves in his studio, you’ll find mangas and figurines of all kinds scattered around.
A MINI TOTEM FROM ALPINA
A sort of good luck charm that almost never leaves him, this souvenir from a visit to his sponsor – Alpina, a Swiss watchmaker – is always close to Kaditane. “I always have a watch on my wrist, but this small carved piece of wood follows me everywhere. I don’t know why, it’s become a habit to have it in my bag all the time,” he shares.
A PAIR OF EARBUDS
If there’s one thing that follows him all winter during each of his ski sessions, it’s his earbuds. “Wired ones, a reliable choice to avoid losing them while riding on the slopes and in the snowpark,” he explains.
