Like any physical activity, skiing is a demanding sport. To keep going for hours, days and weeks on end, you need to listen to your body, relax and refuel. Luckily, après-ski ticks all the boxes! That’s why we’ve consulted experts in the field. It’s up to you to choose the advice best suited to your profile!
Jean Baptiste, 45 YO
- Edgar Groupiron fan, but can’t spell it correctly
- Only wants to ski at Balme.
- Hates it when the webcams aren’t up to date.
Every year, he’s back. With his freshly waxed and sharpened skis, he’s managed to stay young at heart and has been recycling the same jokes for over 30 years. With him, après-ski is sacred and starts at 3pm. His goal in life: to be the first on the slopes and the last to leave the terraces of high-altitude restaurants. And if he can come back with a sunburn on the corner of his nose to disgust his office colleagues, that’s the icing on the cake.
Céline, 46 YO
- Sings off-key, especially when on a chairlift.
- Afraid of snowboarders.
- Spends all her time saying: Ah, it’s nice up here anyway!
For her, the mountains are nature, fresh air and the best way to forget the little worries of everyday life. She thinks of everything: sun cream, water bottle in the backpack, piste map on the phone, entertainment program in the pocket… We all need a Céline! For her, the perfect après-ski is a quick trip to the nearest spa to relax and unwind, before heading off to a good restaurant.
Chloé, 22 YO
- Eats only fondue and raclette on vacation.
- Only wants to ride with Faction skis.
- Stops every 100m on the slopes to take selfies.
Behind her model student exterior lies an animal. Untiring, she can go a week skiing and partying without sleeping. In fact, it’s for people like her that night skiing was invented! With Chloé, après-ski is all day long. On the snow front at 9am sharp, aboard the gondolas, on the terrace or at the top of the slopes, wherever Chloé goes, everything turns into a dancefloor. Her secret for keeping up without flinching: she takes micro naps on the endless Col de Balme chairlift.
Timéo, 8 and a half YO
- Repeated his 2nd star 3 times, but this year it’s the right one.
- Makes turns on ski lifts.
- Confuses cross-country skiing with ski touring.
He’s the king of the family! Vacations are timetabled around his schedule. When he’s not taking ski lessons with an instructor, he’s the one who chooses the slopes, breakfast time, snack time, and even the aperitif. What’s really practical is that after a good day’s skiing, all you have to do is find him a hot chocolate and a sofa, and he’ll fall asleep. Just don’t forget it…
Yvette, 76 YO
- Skiing in La Clusaz since the age of 5.
- Collects animation programs.
- Never refuses a little mulled wine.
76 years old, all her teeth, and with her new hip prosthesis, she’s still hitting the slopes like it’s day one. Even if she says all day long that it was better before, she’s still there to watch the ski show and sample all the local produce at the weekly market. After skiing, she enjoys a vin chaud in the village square, catching up with old acquaintances and catching up on the latest gossip. Even though she’s the same age as some of the fir trees, she knows all the good addresses, and that’s a sure thing!
